Bio

Max Burger

Max Burger was born in a DP camp in Germany, the son of Holocaust survivors. He was raised in New York City and graduated from NYU in 1970 and the Medical School of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Dublin in 1976. After an internship in Toronto, he completed a residency in Family Medicine in Montclair, NJ. He logged about 100,000 words of patient histories and physicals in his thirty-eight years practicing medicine. Inspired and undeterred by his previous writing, he retired to write novels, short stories, plays, and essays, unfettered by reality.

Rogue Phoenix Press published his novels Even In Death in December 2023, a mystery/thriller of a 1970s Dublin pathologist searching for a stolen body, and My Father's Father, a Holocaust Generations Novel, in April 2026.

He has published personal interest stories in JAMA, AMA News, and Medical Economics.
